Notre-Dame

- Concr3de

Founders and architects Eric Geboers and Matteo Baldassari from Concr3de are involved with experimenting and producing architecture and design through the use of inkjet 3D print technology in self made printers.  The fire in the Notre-Dame cathedral in 2019 inspired them to come up with a proposition that uses the leftover debris as the new building material. By turning the ashes, dust and stones into a printable 3D powder, it becomes possible to reprint the missing parts of the Notre-Dame and let the fire (visible in the ashes) become a part of the cathedral’s past narrative and new design. In this way, history is honoured in innovative ways and the Notre-Dame gains the chance to rise anew like a “phoenix from the ashes”.
